How to get to Restaurant Sunne-Stübli in Turbach
Hikers who are doing a hike in Turbachvalley will at some point come across the village of Turbach. We stumbled upon the small restaurant when were hiking on the Via Alpina from Lenk to Gstaad. There is also a bus from Gstaad to Turbach and you can drive there.
We love the restaurant because of the fondue and the friendly owners
It was already late in the day when we arrived in Turbach. We ate everything we had in the backpack and were hungry. From Turbach to Gstaad it was still one more hour to go. We decided to take a break and eat something. The owner suggested “something small”. When we asked what he means he replied: “what about a fondue!”. We were expecting a sandwich and couldn’t stop laughing. Yes, of course, we ordered the fondue.

According to the owner, we are not the only ones praising the fondue there. The owner of restaurant Sunne-Stübli told us about an Australian who travels every year to Switzerland to come and eat his fondue! Well, we can totally relate to him.

We sat in front of the restaurant in the shade of the trees. The inside of the restaurant is small but really beautiful. The tables and chairs are made of wood. The space is small, pretty and authentic. Unfortunately, we don’t have pictures but we will come back to take some.

Silviane und Peter von Grünigen are excellent hosts and make you feel like home in no time. Their restaurant is a rare find, hidden in the village of Turbach. On a sunny summer’s day it’s where you want to be: behind a parasol, drinking cold beer and eating a local cheese plate. We want to thank the ownwers for making us a fondue after a busy summer’s day with many visitors! We wouldn’t have made it to Gstaad without the extra energy of your delicious fondue mix!
